ZCVIEW.DOC 1.06
==============================================================================
Q. What is ZCVIEW?
A. ZCVIEW is a Tic file viewer which allows you to view all of your tic files
in a single run. It will also shell out and run an external batch file
if you would like it to. (Explained in more detail later)
Q. Why would I need ZCVIEW?
A. ZCVIEW makes viewing of TIC files a snap. The authors of ZCVIEW were
inspired to write this utility to quickly view the TIC files from Planet
Connect. ZCVIEW reduces the time required to scan TIC file dramatically.
Q. What does it cost to register ZCVIEW?
A. The only cost to register ZCVIEW is one phone call! You call one of
two bbs's and generate your own registration code. The program is free
if you live within the local Seymour, Indiana calling area. Additional
information on registering follows later.
Q. Why the phone call?
A. We want to see if our time was wasted in designing ZCVIEW. If there
is some response to the program then further development and features
can and will be added. Additionally, we would like to hear from you,
the end user.
Q. I want to try it first, will it work without being registered?
A. Yes, all the features work just a beep or two and some delays
but it will work fully.
Q. How do i set it up?
A. 30 seconds and the built-in configuration program and that's it!

ZCVIEW INSTALLATION AND COMMAND OPTIONS
=============================================================================
Installation is very straight forward. Simply make a directory and unzip
the distribution archive into that directory. The configuration utility
asks for some vital information and that's it.
ZCVIEW C Runs the ZCVIEW configuration utility
ZCVIEW M ZCVIEW runs in "manual mode" (explained in detail later)
ZCVIEW ? Displays the ZCVIEW help screen
ZCVIEW ZCVIEW runs in "automatic mode" (explained in detail later)
==============================================================================
CONFIGURING ZCVIEW
==============================================================================
To configure ZCVIEW, log the directory where the program is located and type
"ZCVIEW C" (minus the quotes). The configuration utility will prompt for
following information
NAME > Enter your name exactly as you would when you call for
your personalized registration code!
REGISTRATION CODE > Enter your personalized registration code here. If un-
registered, enter a 0 on this line
Drive letter where your tic files are located > If your only using one
drive this line can be
left blank.If the tic files
are located on another
drive,then enter it here.
ie. G:
Drive letter where you have installed ZCVIEW > If your only using one
drive this line can be
left blank.If ZCVIEW's
files are located on
another drive other than
where your tic files are
stored enter that drive
letter here. ie. C:
Directory where ZCVIEW is installed > Enter the full path to the location
of the ZCVIEW system files. It is
recommended that ZCVIEW be in it's
own directory. ie. C:\ZCVIEW
Path to where the tic files are located > Enter the full path were your TIC
files are located. ie. G:\TIC
Path and name of external batch file > Enter the full path and file name of
the external batch file you wish
ZCVIEW to run when you exit. If you
don't wish to use this feature, simply
leave this line BLANK.
Time (in seconds) ZCVIEW leaves a tic file displayed on the screen in auto-
matic mode. 15 to 20 seconds is recommended however, this setting is
entirely up to you.
NOTE that ZCVIEW will not unarchive your tic files if they are compressed
use your own archiver to uncompress them. ZCVIEW only reads your
*.TIC files
==============================================================================
The external batch file
==============================================================================
I use ZCVIEW in a multitasking environment when ZCVIEW fires up and runs it
shells out to my batch file. My batch file looks for new tic files and runs
my TIC processor then returns to ZCVIEW. The batch file is called each
time the program runs or is started. This option works in manual and auto
mode.
>>>>>>>>>> NOTE_NOTE_NOTE_NOTE_NOTE <<<<<<<<<<
If you do not understand how Batch files work or how to create one leave
this line blank in the configuration utility.
==============================================================================
AUTOMATIC MODE
==============================================================================
If you run ZCVIEW with no command lines the program is in auto mode. If the
Batch file line is left blank in the config setup it is ignored. The tic
files are displayed one at a time depending on the delay you have specified
in the configuration utility. The program will continue displaying TIC files
until the F10 key is pressed which will exit the program.
==============================================================================
MANUAL MODE
==============================================================================
By typing ZCVIEW M (notice the space), ZCVIEW will run in manual mode. The
batch file if used will still run on each new start up, if this line is left
blank in the configuration file it is ignored. In manual mode, each tic file
and is left on the screen until you press a key. You can exit the program at
any time by pressing F10 anytime or N after all the tic files have been
displayed.
